Academic Initiative

This platform represents the digital forefront of Gunadarma University's ambitious "Center of Excellence" program. It serves as a centralized hub specifically designed to aggregate, manage, and showcase the university's research output, academic events, and student achievements in the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence.

Overview

Gunadarma University aimed to cement its reputation as a pioneer in AI research within Southeast Asia. However, the existing digital infrastructure was fragmented, consisting of disjointed static pages and legacy systems that were difficult to update and navigate. This project was initiated to build a cohesive, modern, and high-performance web platform that reflects the cutting-edge nature of the work being done at the university. Ideally, it needed to be a "living" repository where new papers, upcoming seminars, and hackathon achievements could be instantaneously shared with the academic community.

Technical Implementation

We moved away from the legacy monolithic approach to a cleaner, decoupled architecture. The backend was built with Laravel Sanctum to provide a secure, scalable API layer capable of handling complex role-based access control (RBAC).

  • Dynamic Content Management: We built a custom CMS tailored specifically for academic workflows. Unlike generic CMS solutions, this allowed non-technical faculty staff to easily post structured updates about seminars, workshops, and call-for-papers without needing IT intervention.
  • Publication Archive: A highly optimized, searchable database of white papers and thesis links. We implemented tagging by specific AI domains (e.g., Computer Vision, NLP, Reinforcement Learning) to allow researchers to quickly filter relevant literature.
  • Member Directory: A rich-media showcase of faculty members and researchers. Each profile links dynamically to their specific publications and research interests, fostering better inter-departmental collaboration.
